1 On 7-1-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Mangalore in co-ordination with Taluka Legal Services Committee, Puttur, Indus College, Puttur, St. Phinomina College, Puttur organized legal literacy programme on “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act”.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr.Justice Abdul Nazeer, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Mangalore(D.K). Hon’ble Mr. Justice  Dr.K. Bhaktvatsala, President on the occasion and Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.V. Pinto, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Additional Advocate General   Sri K.M. Nataraj were the Guest of Honour.

2On 21-1-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Gadag in  co-ordination with Bar Association, Gadag, Karnataka Niravari Nigam, Canara Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Mysore, Karnataka Bank, Vijaya Bank, ICICI Bank have organized Lok Adalat.  Hon’ble Mr.Justice L. Narayana Swamy, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Gadag inaugurated the Lok Adalat function.

3 On 22-1-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Mysore in co-ordination with Bar Association, Mysore and District Administration have organized the programme of “Foundation Stone Laying of ADR and Mediation Centre”.  Hon’ble Mr.Justice K. Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, laid the foundation stone for the ADR and Mediation Centre.  Hon’ble Mr. Justice                  K.L. Manjunath, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Mysore and Hon’ble Mr. Justice N.K. Patil, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Hon’ble Minister of Government of Karnataka C.M. Udasi, S.A. Ram Das and other dignitaries were present in the function.

4 On 7-2-2012 Karnataka State Legal Services Authority in co-ordination with District Legal Services Authority, Belgaum Bar Association, Belgaum District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Public Works Department, Labour Department, Karnataka Niravari Nigam, Alliance International Service organization Belgaum have organized legal literacy programme on “Building and Other Construction Workers Act”.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr.Justice K. Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority.

5On 18-2-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Tumkur in co-ordination with Bar Association Tumkur have organized the inaugural programme of Kanoonu Saksharatha Ratha in Tumkur District.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice D.V. Shylendra Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Tumkur District.

6On 26-2-2012 District Legal Services Authority of Karwar (U.K)  in co-ordination of Prosecution Department and Excise Department of Karwar (U.K) organized workshop to empower the Excise Department Officials.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr.Justice Huluwadi G. Ramesh, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Karwar District.

7 On 10-3-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Mysore in co-ordination with Health Department, Health Education Department, Karnataka State Mental Health Authority, District Administration of Mysore have organized a programme on “Mental Health” at senate house of Mysore.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Mysore District.  In the said programme a book “Mano Vikasa” was released.

8 On 13-3-2012 the District Legal Services Authority, Gadag in co-ordination with Bar Association, Gadag have organized legal literacy camp for “Litigants”. The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice  L. Narayana Swamy, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge of Gadag District. 

9On 31-3-2012 District Legal Services Authority, Dharwad in co-ordination with Women and Child Welfare Department, District Women Advocate Federation, Dharwad, Bar Association, Health Department, Information and Broad Casting Department, Dharwad have organized a legal literacy workshop on “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act”, “Property Rights of Women” and “Facilities available from Government”.  The said programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr.Justice Sri K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority.

10On 30-04-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Dharwad in coordination with Zilla Panchayath, District Health Department, Department of Information & Publicity, Prosecution Department and Bar Association, Dharwad, organized workshop on women and law and benefits provided to the women by the Department of Women and Child, Government of Karnataka, at SDM Medical College Auditorium, Dharwad.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka & Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the programme.  Sri. Darpan Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Dharwad District presided over the function.

11 On 2-6-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Belgaum in coordination with Bar Association, Athani, organized legal literacy programme at Sankonatti, Athani Taluka.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the programme.  Hon’ble Sri Justice A.S.Pachhapure, Judge, High Court of Karnataka presided over the function.

12On 18-06-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Bidar in coordination with Department of Women & Child Development and Bar Association, Bidar, organized one day workshop on women and laws and the Schemes of Department of Women & Child,  Government of Karnataka, for the benefit of women, in particular. Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the workshop.  Dr. Shashikala M.A.Urankar, District & Sessions Judge, Bidar presided over the function.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka & Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority rendered valedictory address.  There was questions & answers session prior to the holding of valedictory session.

13On 24-6-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Bellary, in coordination with Bar Association, District Administration, Labour Department etc.,  organized legal literacy programme on “The Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment & Conditions of Service) Act & Karnataka Rules, 2006” at Gandhi Bhavan, Bellary.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka & Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the programme.  More than 2000 building and construction workers of various talukas of Bellary District were empowered on the benefits of registration under the provisions of the above Act.
“Mission mode programme for Reduction of Pendency in Courts”

13On 30-06-2012, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority in coordination with High Court of Karnataka launched “Mission mode programme for Reduction of Pendency in Courts”.  Hon’ble Shri Justice P.Sathasivam, Judge, Supreme Court of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  Hon’ble Shri Salman Khurshid, Hon’ble Minister for Law & Justice, Government of India, launched the programme for the entire country at Bangalore.  Hon’ble Sri Justice Vikramajit Sen, Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka and Patron-in-Chief of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority presided over the function.  Hon’ble Shri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority was the Guest of Honour.  Sri S.Suresh Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Justice & Human Rights was also the Guest of Honour.

            Hon’ble Sri Salman Khurshid, Hon’ble Minister for Law & Justice, Government of India, lauded the good work done by the courts in the State in reducing the arrears and in disposing of a substantial number of cases and thereby reducing the arrears.

            Hon’ble Sri Justice P.Sathasivam, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who was the Chief Guest of the occasion, had high praise for the good turn out of cases in various sittings of lok adalats organized by the courts in our State.  He appealed to the august body to adhere to the rules and not to by-pass the same and assist the legal system in early disposal of cases through various ADR mechanisms.

            Hon’ble Sri Justice Vikramajit Sen, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka and Patron-in-Chief of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority complimented the Judicial Officers in our State as also other stakeholders in disposal of nearly 2 lakh cases in lok adalat sittings held in between 1-04-2011 & 31-03-2012.  His Lordship informed the august body that more than 50,000 cases were disposed of in lok adalat sittings during the first 5 months 2012, besides disposal of more number of pre-litigation cases.  His Lordship assured the Chief Guest and also Hon’ble Law Minister of Government of India that more number of cases would be disposed of in lok adalats in various courts during the current Financial Year also.

            Hon’ble Shri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority had a word of praise for the Judicial Officers for doing tremendous work in disposal of more cases in lok adalats during the previous Financial Year.  His Lordship informed the august body that there will be zero pendency of old cases over a period of 2 years.  His Lordship complimented all concerned in their co-operation in disposal of cases by adopting various ADR mechanisms.

            Hon’ble Sri S.Suresh Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Justice  & Human Rights, Government of Karnataka informed the august body that the Government of Karnataka would render every possible help in strengthening the institution and in disposal of more cases pending before the courts in the State.

Sri P.Krishna Bhat, Registrar General, High Court of Karnataka welcomed the august gathering.  Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority proposed vote of thanks.

15On 30-6-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Chickballapur in coordination with Bar Association and District Administration, Chickballapur organized legal literacy programme.  Hon’ble Sri Justice D.V.Shylendra Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee inaugurated the programme.  Hon’ble Sri Justice L.Narayana Swamy, Judge, High Court of Karnataka & Hon’ble Sri Justice A.S.Pachhapure, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge for Chickballapur District also participated in the programme.

            Under the able guidance and stewardship of Hon’ble   Sri Justice Vikramajit Sen, Hon’ble the Chief Justice of High Court of Karnataka and Patron-in-Chief of KSLSA and  guidance of Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of KSLSA and cooperation and motivation of Hon’ble Judges of High Court of Karnataka and all concerned, Legal Services Institutions in the State have occupied a pivotal role in disposal of more than 1.61 lakh cases through lok adalats besides disposal of more than 14000 cases through Permanent Lok Adalats in the State in between 1-07-2011 and 30-06-2012.   Concerted efforts to be made by all the stakeholders in disposal of more number of cases in lok adalats and in strengthening the working of Legal Services Institutions in the State.

16 On 3-07-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Yadgir in coordination with District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Bar Association, Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare Department, Public Education Department etc., conducted one date workshop on “Rights of Women”.  The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bangalore.  The delegates who were drawn from the Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Anganawadi workers, advocates, students of colleges etc., were empowered on the provisions of “The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005”,   “Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961”,  “Right of Women in property”, benefits provided by the Government of Karnataka to the women, “Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929”, “The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994”, “Constitution of India, 1950” etc., 

            Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of KSLSA presided over the valedictory session.  Hon’ble Lordship impressed up on the audience to empower the public and all concerned of the laws of which the delegates are empowered by the resource persons in the workshop.

17 On 4-07-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Gulbarga in coordination with District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Bar Association, Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare Department, Public Education Department etc., conducted one date workshop on “Rights of Women”.  The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bangalore.  The delegates who were drawn from the Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Anganawadi workers, advocates, students of colleges etc., were empowered on the provisions of “The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005”,   “Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961”,  “Right of Women in property”, benefits provided by the Government of Karnataka to the women, “Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929”, “The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994”, “Constitution of India, 1950” etc.,

18 On 28-07-2012, Hon’ble Sri Justice D.V.Shylendra Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Chairman, Karnataka High Court Legal Services Committee inaugurated Legal Awareness Programme and Pre Medical Camp for Women workers at Peenya Industrial Estate, Bangalore.  Hon’ble Sri Justice Subhash B.Adi, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Member of High Court Legal Services Committee, Sri G.S.Narayanaswamy, Secretary to Government, Labour Department, Government of Karnataka and others participated in the programme.

19On 5-08-2012 Karnataka State Legal Services Authority along with High Court Legal Services Committee, Departments of Labour, Public Works and Factories and Boilers, Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, Karnataka Labour Welfare Board,  Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), & Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) organised one day Workshop for building and other construction workers, officials of Department of Labour, Government of Karnataka, at Indoor Stadium, N.G.V, Koramangala, Bangalore.

            Hon’ble Sri Justice Altamas Kabir, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority inaugurated the workshop.  Hon’ble Shri Justice Vikramajit Sen, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka and Patron-in-Chief, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority presided over the function.  Shri Jagadish Shettar, Hon’ble the Chief Minister of Karnataka was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  Shri B.N.Bachhe Gowda, Hon’ble Minister for Labour and Sericulture, Government of Karnataka was the Guest on the occasion. Hon’ble Shri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority and Hon’ble Shri Justice D.V.Shylendra Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee, participated in the workshop as Guests of Honour.

Labour Officers, Labour Inspectors, Joint Labour Commissioners, Labour Commissioner and other officials of Department of Labour and Department of Factories and Boilers, Government of Karnataka attended the workshop as “delegates”.

The First Session of the workshop focussed on the following 2 topics:

  1. Objects, reasons and role of Legal Services Authorities and State Government under the “Building and Other Construction Workers’ (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service)Act, 1996”
  2. Application of Welfare Fund and effective implementation of the “Building and Other Construction Workers’ (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996”

 

The Second Session of the workshop focused on the following 2 topics:

  1. Basic Amenities, Health and Safety: Problems and Issues
  2. Mechanism of collection of cess and Registration of Beneficiaries: Problems and urgent steps to be taken.

           
20On 18-08-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Madakeri in coordination with District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Bar Association, Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare Department, Public Education Department etc., conducted one date workshop on “Rights of Women”.  The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bangalore.  The delegates who were drawn from the Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Anganawadi workers, advocates, students of colleges etc., were empowered on the provisions of “The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005”,   “Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961”,  “Right of Women in property”, benefits provided by the Government of Karnataka to the women, “Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929”, “The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994”, “Constitution of India, 1950” etc.,

21 On 02.09.2012, a programme was arranged by District Legal Services Authority, Gulbarga at S.M. Padith Rangamandira regarding “Construction Labourers Legal Awareness”.  Hon’ble Shri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Hon’ble Shri Justice D.V. Shailendra Kumar, Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee and Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Hon’ble Shri Justice Pachhapure, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Hon’ble Shri Justice Aravind Kumar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka  and Sri Vishwanath V. Angadi, Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bangalore attended the programme.

22 On 08-09-2012, District Legal Services Authority, Raichur in coordination with District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Bar Association, Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare Department, Public Education Department etc., conducted one date workshop on “Rights of Women”.  The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Vishwanath V.Angadi, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bangalore.  The delegates who were drawn from the Department of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Anganawadi workers, advocates, students of colleges etc., were empowered on the provisions of “The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005”,   “Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961”,  “Right of Women in property”, benefits provided by the Government of Karnataka to the women, “Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929”, “The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994”, “Constitution of India, 1950” etc.,

23On 22.09.2012, District Legal Services Authority, Dharwad conducted one day programme on “Free Legal Aid and Literacy”.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of KSLSA and Sri Vishwanath V. Angadi, Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bangalore attended the programme.

24On 30.09.2012, District Legal Services Authority, Karwad conducted one day programme on “Legal Literacy”.  Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of KSLSA and Sri Vishwanath V. Angadi, Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bangalore attended the programme.

25 On 04.11.2012, District Legal Services Authority, Bellary conducted workshop on “Mediation” at Advocates’ Bhavan, Bellary.   Hon’ble Sri Justice K.Sreedhar Rao, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of KSLSA and Sri Vishwanath V. Angadi, Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bangalore attended the programme.

26 On 30.12.2012, Taluk Legal Services Authority, Somwarpet conducted workshop on “Legal Programme”. Hon’ble Sri Justice V. Manohar, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Sri Vishwanath V. Angadi, Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bangalore attended the workshop.
